Large magnetic-field-induced strain at the magnetic order transition in triangular antiferromagnet AgCrS2

چکیده

Strain induced by a magnetic field is common phenomenon for ferromagnets, but few antiferromagnets show large strain field. On the basis of linear measurements sintered samples triangular antiferromagnet ACrS2 (A = Cu, Ag, and Au) in fields up to 9 T, AgCrS2 sample was found strain, yielding volume change over 700 ppm, which one largest changes measured date an antiferromagnet. This appeared only at Néel temperature 42 K not restored its initial state when applied decreased zero; however, it initialized cooling far below temperature. These results suggest that coexistence magnetically ordered paramagnetic phases first-order phase transition plays important role. AuCrS2 showed field-induced with similar features although smaller than AgCrS2.

Field-induced magnetic transition in the heavy-fermion antiferromagnet Ce7Ni3

We present a detailed study of the field ~B! temperature ~T! phase diagram of the heavy-fermion antiferromagnet Ce7Ni3 that crystallizes in the hexagonal Th7Fe3-type structure with three nonequivalent Ce sites (Ce I , Ce II , and Ce III). This compound undergoes two magnetic transitions at TN151.9 K and TN250.7 K in zero field. Below TN1, an incommensurate spin density wave ~SDW! develops, and ...

Variational studies of triangular Heisenberg antiferromagnet in magnetic field

We present a variational study of the Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the spatially anisotropic triangular lattice in magnetic field. First we construct a simple yet accurate wave function for the 1/3-magnetization plateau uud phase on the isotropic lattice. Beginning with this state, we obtain natural extensions to nearby commensurate coplanar phases on either side of the plateau. The latter occ...

Magnetic-field-induced first-order transition in the frustrated XY model on a stacked triangular lattice.

The results of extensive Monte Carlo simulations of magnetic-field induced transitions in the xy model on a stacked triangular lattice with antiferromag-netic intraplane and ferromagnetic interplane interactions are discussed. A low-field transition from the paramagnetic to a 3-state (Potts) phase is found to be very weakly first order with behavior suggesting tricriticality at zero field. In a...

Cascade of magnetic-field-induced quantum phase transitions in a spin-1/2 triangular-lattice antiferromagnet.

We report magnetocaloric and magnetic-torque evidence that in Cs2CuBr4--a geometrically frustrated Heisenberg S=1/2 triangular-lattice antiferromagnet--quantum fluctuations stabilize a series of spin states at simple increasing fractions of the saturation magnetization Ms. Only the first of these states--at M=1/3Ms--has been theoretically predicted. We discuss how the higher fraction quantum st...

First order phase transition in the frustrated triangular antiferromagnet CsNiCl3.

By means of high-resolution ultrasonic velocity measurements, as a function of temperature and magnetic field, the nature of the different low temperatures magnetic phase transitions observed for the quasi-one-dimensional compound CsNiCl3 is established. Special attention has been devoted to the field-induced 120 degrees phase transition above the multicritical point in the H-T phase diagram wh...
